Alex's Temple Portrait Session

When it comes to photographing a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, we tend to work extensively with each family. Often shooting for several days in separate locations. This gives us a great opportunity to get to know our clients and their families better. So on the day of the actual Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you'll be seeing a familiar face instead of being introduced at the event to the photographer that will be shadowing you for the rest of the day.

While Alex was setting herself up on the pulpit, you could see a familiar look come across her face. The look a child has when they're standing in the middle of that empty temple ahead of the actual ceremony. It's when the reality of having to read excerpts of the Torah in front of almost everyone you know hits. Except, immediately after her realization, her lips began to curl into a smile and her confidence began to take over.
We love when families color coordinate and try to stick to similar color schemes. It prevents colors and patterns from clashing and distracting from the image. Her navy blue dress complimented the gold detailing of the Torahs in the display case behind her. It also made the outdoor background pop exceptionally well.

It's always sweet when we have siblings involved in these images. It brings out a different side of our main subject, making for some images filled with fun and laughter. Here's to Alex, we wish you the very best on the day of your Bat Mitzvah. We look forward to capturing and sharing your special occasion!
