5 Ways to Get Your Groom Excited About the Wedding

When a couple is planning their wedding, us women admit, we tend to usually take the reigns. Men can be a bit more laid back, not necessarily eliminating themselves from the planning process entirely, but simply making small suggestions here and there. And most women, we're perfectly fine with that. Adhering to the traditional wedding day norms of having the wedding be more of a reflection of the bride since her tastes are usually placed front and center.
So yes ladies. You chose the color scheme, the table arrangements, the decor, the flowers, the guest list, the invitations, the cake, etc. Throughout all of the planning and excitement, take a moment to ask yourself, what part of your wedding reflects your groom?

Don't feel bad! Most men are used to not being so vocal and simply enjoying themselves on the day of the wedding. But I'm here to remind you gentlemen, you can have a reflection of  your personality in your wedding!

Let him choose the DJ!
When it comes to choosing your vendor, brides tend to enjoy personally choosing their photographer, videographer, make up artist, planner, etc. But by letting the guys choose the DJ, you are making him feel not only included, you are getting him pumped for the most exciting part of the evening... the reception.

Groom Prep Moments

These are the final moments before you become united as one in matrimony. This offer that one final glimpse at his pre-married life. Encourage him to bring his favorite mementos to groom prep. Perhaps he'll be holding his father's locket at the altar to feel closer to him, or maybe his friends brought  along a bottle of scotch that was gifted to them during college. Bringing meaningful items to prep serves as a reminder of his journey to the altar.
Fun Formals
Some groomsmen enjoy taking things to another level. Whether it is a shot of the men gawking over the grooms wedding ring, a bouquet toss involving the guys, or the groom being carried by the bridesmaids. If he's a silly person, let it show in the photos! He can bring some silly props, wear something beneath his tux, climb a tree or take a seat on a tire swing. You don't always have to be serious, looking off into the sunset or into one another's eyes to capture a standout image.
The Entrance Music
So this will be the very first time you are and your fiance will be announced as husband and wife. . We've seen plenty of Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyonce themed music entrances. And again, usually the ladies choice. By letting him choose the music, you are guaranteeing some laughs from the crowd as well as a killer entrance. One that your groom will be proud to be making with you by his side.
Have a Separate Cake
When it comes to your wedding day photos, you'll definitely want images of the wedding cake before your guests dig in. But some couples have been purchasing a smaller cake in honor of the groom with a theme that perhaps the bride wasn't too fond of, but would be entertaining for her soon to be husband. The cake can be an homage to their favorite band like Metallica or movie like The Godfather.
Incorporate His Culture and His Personality
If your groom is of a different culture, religion or background, it may be important to him to include this somewhere in the wedding. We've seen weddings with flamenco dancers, whole dance troupes, people donning drums and masks while surrounded by fire breathers. Not only will this idea add a unique element to your wedding, you'll have your photographer and videographer there to capture his reaction and the performance to cherish for years to come.

There are tons of ways to incorporate your groom's personality into the wedding. Even if he is allowing you to take the reigns and make the choices, surprise him with a unique cake, a dance number, or a meaningful memento from childhood. Your wedding day is about the two of you, remind him just how special he is throughout this process, especially on the biggest day of your lives.
